The Roundabout in Buda

The First Slab Is Poured! The Roundabout in Buda Is Taking Shape

If you’ve driven down FM 967 in Buda lately, you’ve probably noticed some major construction underway. That’s The Roundabout in Buda, an exciting new 18-acre development bringing restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and outdoor recreation to West Buda.

And now, the first concrete slab has been poured! It’s another milestone for a project that could become one of Buda’s most popular gathering spots.

What’s Coming to The Roundabout in Buda?

Located at 1141 RM 967, The Roundabout will feature approximately 64,000 square feet of commercial space across nine buildings. But this isn’t your typical shopping center. Developers envision a walkable destination where residents can grab a bite to eat, meet friends, enjoy outdoor activities, and spend time with family.

Several businesses have already been announced, including:

  • Trianon Coffee – A local favorite bringing coffee and café offerings to the development.
  • La Ola Pop Shop – Handmade frozen treats, perfect for those hot Texas afternoons.
  • M. McCall’s Irish Pub – A neighborhood gathering spot for food, drinks, and conversation.
  • Proof Liquor and Deli – A specialty liquor store and deli.
  • Sundance – A restaurant and entertainment concept from the Moontower Group.
  • Kai Nail Bar – Nail and beauty services.
  • Gracie Humaita Buda – Brazilian jiu-jitsu instruction.
  • Mercantile At Home – Home décor and shopping.
  • Kay Elise – Jewelry and accessories.

The variety of businesses should give West Buda residents more options for shopping, dining, and entertainment without having to travel into Austin.

More Than Just Restaurants and Shopping

One of the most interesting aspects of The Roundabout is its focus on outdoor recreation and community gathering spaces.

Plans include pickleball courts, sand volleyball, playgrounds, live music, and walking trails connecting to the surrounding greenbelt system.

Imagine meeting friends for coffee, playing a game of pickleball, grabbing dinner, and enjoying live music, all in one location.

The development is also expected to feature shaded outdoor seating and pedestrian-friendly areas designed to encourage visitors to stay awhile rather than simply stop in and leave.

When Will The Roundabout Open?

Construction is officially underway, and the project celebrated its groundbreaking on September 8, 2026.

With the first concrete slab now poured, the development is beginning to take physical shape.

According to project announcements, approximately 51% of the commercial space had already been pre-leased as of September 2026, suggesting strong interest from businesses looking to establish a presence in this growing part of Buda.

The original development schedule anticipated the first phase being completed in late 2026, with additional construction continuing into 2027. However, specific opening dates for individual businesses have not yet been confirmed.

What Does This Mean for West Buda?

For years, much of Buda’s commercial activity has been concentrated around downtown and the I-35 corridor. As neighborhoods continue expanding westward, demand for nearby restaurants, services, and entertainment has grown.

The Roundabout could help fill that gap by creating a convenient destination for residents along FM 967 and surrounding communities.

For homeowners and prospective buyers, nearby amenities are another consideration when choosing where to live. Developments like this can add convenience and contribute to a neighborhood’s overall appeal.

A New Chapter for Buda

Buda continues to grow, and The Roundabout represents another step in that evolution.

Whether you’re looking forward to a new coffee shop, an evening out with friends, or a place to enjoy some pickleball, there’s plenty to anticipate.
It’s an exciting addition to West Buda, and I’ll be watching as construction progresses and businesses open.
